Laura, that's great to hear you've having a good time in Wales. Did you get to stash your bike at Heathrow? When you have a chance, email me your home address - your necklace from the sauna in Lech arrived here yesterday with mine.

Cheers,
Nathan

Hello all! Its good to read all the great comments. :-)
My short flight to London was uneventful, and a huge thank you to Connie for getting up so early to give us a ride to the airport.

I spent a day in Cardiff, Wales. Such a beautiful port town in the south with lots of new modern buildings. I seriously wanted to spend more time there.

I am now staying in Alnwick Castle (www.alnwickcastle.com/), which is an awesome privilege being an Alumni of the study abroad program that is here. Its like coming back to a home away from home. This afternoon I am speding time with my home-stay parents, and hopeful a hike in the Cheviots. So far I've had really good food, tasty beer, and proper english tea.

Glad to hear so many of you riders made it back safely. I am actually itching to cycling more. Good luck with all your endevors, and I'll see all you MN kids soon.

-Laura

Yay! Finally got home after my marathon flight. Geneva-Frankfurt-LAX-Auckland-Wellington. 27hrs flying and about 12hrs in transit :P. It made the ride into Dissentis look easy!

A big fat thank you to Andy, Connie, Dana for all your hard work organising/supporting the AUT. (It's going to be a hard act to follow- I'll be happy if the LUT goes anywhere as smoothly). And to all the riders/bike support for a really enjoyable three weeks-what a way to see Europe! I'm priviledged to have been able to ride with you on this trip. And thanks to everyone who posted messages on this Guestbook-they were really fun to read on tour.

all the best from down under,

Ken

Congrats to all of you for your efforts. I am a traditional cyclists and can appreciate how difficult the tour must have been, especially on a unicycle!!

Hi all... Some atheist god was smiling on me today because for who knows what reason, I was upgraded to first class for my 8 hour flight to NYC!! I was dreading the cattle squeeze etc, but instead got to stretch out on a seat that reclines into a bed and enjoy all the other perqs: doting service, large choice of menu, DVDs. Oh it was heavenly.

It was great hanging out with Franziska and family in Basel and to see the upcoming Unicon 13 facilities in Langenthal which look to be outstanding.

New York City is hot: I'd almost forgotten what summers are like here. Have a great rest of holidays (if any remain) AUT family, and here's a cheer for an awesome trip. Congrats to all.

Hello from Lausanne,

Andy and I are enjoying our second day off from riding (you are totally correct Nathan) and we visited Lausanne instead of riding up another Mountain Pass because of the sowvetter (pig weather). We are going to grab a final Swiss dinner and then catch a movie.

I hope everyone arrived back home safely, and happy birthday to Karl!

Irene and Andy

The miracles of air travel are great. The 4 California boys made it home safely today. I hope everyone else (except Irene) makes it home ok. Ken, I bet you'll be more tired than we are...

Nice to have a second day in a row off from riding, eh?

Hi Bronson,

Just a few more days and you'll be home! YIPPEE! :D

I'm in San Diego and everyone says hi. My dad and Jeannie are riding their bike. It's about 10:15 PM. I'm just relaxing. I'm coming home Saturday evening.

How was your day? What are you doing on your last day? Are you excited to come home? I can't wait!

Have a safe flight. I'm sooooo excited about Sunday.

Love you,
Goatwoman

Hello, John et al.--
Seems like deja vu all over again, with all those photos and notes about the gelato . Fantastic pictures this year; loved the cows and goats and, especially, the mountain shots.
Glad to see that all of you are still well and enjoying the tour.
Wish you all an ecstatic finish and a safe trip home.

Dear friends,
it was a great pleasure to follow your exciting tour by reading your really interesting and very well made diary and seeing all the nice photos... And it was a highlight of the year 2005 to have you all here in Vilters at our facility. It gave me and my kids a kick to ride more and enjoy even more our unis! And we keep doing it!
Wish you all a safe return and hope to see you again soon!

It was so nice meeting all of you and it is always good to see you again Connie.
I had such a good time!!! (haging out with you, eating strawberry gelato, listening to Jonh playing the piano, having dinner with you and staying at the hostel...and just getting to know more about you - oups, I was going to forget, and driving a nice car to visit you)
Irene, I'm going to write you an e-mail about your train tickets.

I'm looking forward to seing all of you in Switzerland (I insist: all of you).
And I think that, now, I know a bit more about my job search : I want to find a job in the Alps (the Alps of my childhood...)

Hi Dana,

I thought someone was breaking into your garage, so I took my baseball bat and went over there to take care of it. Your Dad now has a pretty good size lump on his head.

Just kidding. I recognized him in a time.

And to the rest of you, I envy you. From all that you have written, it looks like the trip of a lifetime. Thanks for all the updates and pictures.

You are all just awesome! When I first heard of this I thought you were crazy. Australia is one thing, but the Alps ?!?!?! I truly admire your spirit, dedication, and joie de vivre. Have fun, stay safe, and savor the rest of the trip. Bronson, we look forward to hearing the stories in person. Yes, I finally got the two wheeler. No, I am not riding it in the Alps

Hi Bronson (aka CowMan) :D

I missed talking with you today. I called a couple of times (around 12pm) and the voice mail came on. I'll call you tomorrow around the same time.

How was your day? Thanks for looking for a Monte Blanc fountain pen for me.

I'm leaving for San Diego in the morning - my flight leaves at 630am. Leslie (grease monkey) is taking me to the airport.

I watched Fear Factor and the contestants had to do something to a goat. Since you have this 'thing' for goats, I recorded it for you. It was pretty gross!

Have a nice day and I love you.

Miss you lots,
GoatWoman

Hi, gang! It's great to see how safely the trip has gone, esp'ly thru some of those hairier moments (riding on the Autobahn, tunnels, fog). Great going! John, we're all waiting for you in MV -- arrive here safely, too! Love, David, Shirra, and the rest of the pebbles.
